I began receiving treatment at Zhu Acupuncture in late 2022, per recommendation of a previous patient. At the time, I had been living with several disabling and chronic conditions, which significantly impacted my quality of life. I was willing to try any reasonable treatment to help alleviate the pain and anxiety that I experienced on a daily basis. Working with Aida has helped me to start living my life again. I now have the mental strength, energy, and mobility to keep up with my young son, and to continue to pursue a career that I am passionate about. I never thought I would be able to achieve these aspirations until I began to experience the powerful changes that I attribute to the treatment Aida has provided. She has the knowledge, background, and passion necessary to help change the lives of individuals for the better!
In 2020, Dr. Aida Zhu assumed
my care and has since developed a deep understanding of my medical issues and has
successfully integrated acupuncture and TCM into my health plan.
Dr. Zhu is a compassionate, attentive listener who bears witness to my physical and emotional
suffering with kindness and without judgement. She asks skillful, intuitive questions to clarify
my experience before placing the acupuncture needles with incredible skill and a gentle touch.
Typically, my pain and anxiety diminish in the very first session of a treatment cycle.
I have seen Dr. Zhu primarily for chronic pain due to cervical radiculopathy and ongoing
treatment for residual neck, shoulder and arm pain following ACDF and other surgeries. She has
also treated me for hip pain connected to my cervical spine issues as well as persistent
piriformis and sciatic pain following my pregnancies 20 years ago.
As my needs have evolved with age, Dr. Zhu has also treated me for anxiety, depression,
hormonal hot flushes, irregular and painful bleeding and sleep disturbances related to
perimenopause and midlife. As a woman who has avoided exogenous hormone therapy for 30
years, I am grateful that TCM provides a natural, energy-balancing alternative to HRT in
perimenopause. The combined use of both needles and traditional Chinese herbal supplements
has noticeably improved my symptoms.
As a former medical physician who has witnessed and personally experienced the limitations of
allopathic medicine in alleviating pain, I am incredibly grateful to have found such a skilled
Healer in Dr. Zhu. I have already recommended Dr. Zhu to my own family, friends and
physicians. If you seek her out for care, you will feel the Blessing in all that she is and all that
she offers.
My connection to Aida, the Zhu family, and their blessed needles dates back nearly 20
years, when a leg injury I suffered jogging in the woods simply never healed. Western
Medicine had nothing for me but pills to treat the symptoms but not the root cause and
subtle insinuations that dismissed my pain because they were unable (and unequipped)
to solve it.
Aida is the only reason that I – in my late 40s now – can still push my
body the way I once did, albeit in the gym, on the trail, or clambering up mountain tops.
Her specialty, of course, is pain – it’s prevention, management, and healing – and I’ve
sent countless friends, students, and even colleagues to her, for
everything from Lyme Disease to migraines to back pain to actual injury. It isn’t just her
intimate knowledge of the body or intuition that’s allowed her to master the art of the
needle, it’s the profound connection she has with her patients, which allows her to
manipulate their bodies and the energy flow so that the “healing” can actually occur.
This isn’t black magic – like anything, treatment takes time and commitment – but she
will heal whatever ails you and in the process convey a deeper sense and knowledge of
your own body.
Perhaps the best anecdote is from this past spring. At around the same time, a close
friend of mine and I both suffered pinched nerves in our upper bodies from, well,
overdoing it as middle-aged men are wont to do. My friend turned to his regular
physician. I placed my faith in the Queen of Needles herself. In three sessions over ten
days, Aida didn’t just speed up the recovery, she quite literally wiped it out. As in, it’s
gone. The needles made the inflammation subside, the nerve no longer found itself in a
vice grip, and the pain became a distant memory. Two months later, my friend is STILL
dealing with his pinched nerve and desperate for a cure. If that doesn’t tell you all youneed to know, nothing will.
